Victory Day Observed at Dr. Momtaz Begum University of Science and Technology

On the occasion of the Great Victory Day, Dr. Momtaz Begum University of Science and Technology observed the day with due dignity through a series of programs.

The programs began with the hoisting of the national flag accompanied by the rendition of the national anthem on the university campus. Later, under the leadership of the Honorable Vice-Chancellor, floral wreaths were laid at Bhairab Durjoy Mor to pay profound tribute to the martyrs of the Great Liberation War.

Subsequently, a discussion meeting titled “Reminiscence of 1971 and Discussion Session” was held on the university campus. The meeting was presided over by Mr. Md. Zakir Hossain, Acting Registrar, Dr. Momtaz Begum University of Science and Technology.

Professor Dr. Muhammad Azizul Hoque, Acting Vice-Chancellor, attended the program as the Chief Guest. The Special Guests included Professor Dr. A. F. M. Nazmus Sadat, Dean, Faculty of Science, and Dr. Akim M. Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Business Administration.

In his speech as the Chief Guest, Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Azizul Haque stated:
“The Great Liberation War is our existence and our identity. Students must come forward to build the nation by embracing the spirit of 1971. A developed and humane Bangladesh can be built through the integration of knowledge, morality, and patriotism.”
He further added, “The spirit of victory should not be confined to ceremonial observances alone; it must be reflected in our thoughts and actions.”

During the discussion session, student speakers included Arifun Nahar Saniya (Department of Computer Science and Engineering), Wajid Rafti (Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering), and Sabikun Nahar Sayma (Department of Pharmacy). They highlighted the history of the Liberation War, the sacrifices made, and the responsibilities of the younger generation.

The program was moderated by Mr. Abdur Rashid, Proctor, Dr. Momtaz Begum University of Science and Technology.

Chairpersons of various departments, faculty members, officers, staff, and students of the university were also present at the event.
