A day-long seminar on increasing awareness about dengue prevention and a free health service campaign were held on Tuesday (2 December 2025) at Rafiqul Islam Mohila College in Bhairab, Kishoreganj, organized by Dr. Momtaz Begum University of Science and Technology. The program was inaugurated by the Acting Principal of the college, Mr. Md. Shahidullah, and Professor Dr. A.F.M. Nazmus Sadat, Dean of the Faculty of Science at the university.
In his inaugural speech, Acting Principal Mr. Md. Shahidullah said, “Dengue has become a national challenge today. Only the combined efforts of teachers, students, and parents can help overcome this challenge. I believe such educational campaigns will play a vital role in increasing students’ health awareness.”
Throughout the day-long campaign, students were given detailed guidance on identifying dengue symptoms, ways to eliminate stagnant water, environmentally friendly living, prevention of waterborne diseases, and what to do in emergency situations.
Following the health camp, a seminar titled “Awareness for Dengue Prevention” was held. Presided over by Acting Principal Mr. Md. Shahidullah, the seminar featured a presentation by the Key Note Speaker, Professor Dr. A.F.M. Nazmus Sadat, Dean of the Faculty of Science. The Chief Guest, Acting Registrar of the university Mr. Md. Zakir Hossain, said, “Dengue prevention is not the responsibility of a single institution; coordinated efforts by families, communities, and educational institutions can bring effective solutions. Students can play the most crucial role in spreading awareness in society.”
Among others present were the University’s Proctor and Chairman of the Business Administration Department, Mr. Abdur Rashid; Assistant Professor of the Pharmacy Department, Ms. Afroza Sultana; and lecturers of Rafiqul Islam Mohila College—Mr. Abdur Rouf, Mr. Mahfuz Ahmed, Mr. Mofizul Islam, and Ms. Mahmuda Begum. The seminar was conducted by Mr. M.A. Baki Billah, Administrative Officer of Dr. Momtaz Begum University of Science and Technology.
During the day-long health camp, students received free blood group testing, blood pressure and weight measurement, along with general health check-ups. They also received immediate health advice. To ensure the success of the campaign, the scout team led by the college’s physical education teacher, Ms. Parvin Sultana, played an important role.
