Today, January 11, 2026 (Sunday), a colorful Orientation Program for the newly admitted students of the fourth batch (Spring Semester 2026) of Dr. Momtaz Begum University of Science and Technology was held in the University’s Digital Conference Room. The program was presided over by the Acting Registrar, Mr. Md. Zakir Hossain. The Chief Guest was the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Muhammad Azizul Hoque. He expressed deep gratitude while remembering the far-sighted initiative of the founder—eminent educationist and valiant freedom fighter Dr. H. B. M. Iqbal—for establishing this university in Bhairab and thereby opening wide opportunities for higher education for students of the region. He stated, “For a student, university life is not confined to textbooks alone—it is a pathway to acquiring leadership, values, and skills. And these four years are the best time to shape oneself into a competent individual.”
The welcome address was delivered by Professor Dr. AFM Nazmus Sadat, Director of IQAC and Dean, Faculty of Science. He urged the newcomers to recognize the necessity of higher education and to be prepared to set future goals. In their speeches, the Deans of various faculties and departmental Chairpersons highlighted the academic structure, research, practical knowledge, library facilities, cultural and sports activities, IT-related opportunities, and the importance of ethics in character building. University administrative officials also addresses the applicable rules and regulations, facilities, and administrative guidelines for students.
Senior student Tamanna Akter Bithi from the Department of Pharmacy and Nahid Hasan from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering shared their experiences with the newcomer’s students and shed light on ways to achieve academic success. New student Samia Akter from the Department of Business Administration and Robin Ahmed from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering expressed their feelings, stating that the warm reception they received on their very first day at the university had significantly boosted their confidence and enthusiasm.
In his concluding remarks, Acting Registrar, Mr. Md. Zakir Hossain, the Chairperson of the program advised the new students to strive for good academic results and to develop themselves as responsible citizens, and he thanked all concerned for making the program a success. The event was attended by the University’s respected Faculty Members, Officers, Staff, and Students from various departments.
The program was conducted by Mr. Md. Abdur Rashid, Chairman of the Department of Business Administration and Proctor of the university.
