Dr. Momtaz Begum University of Science and Technology Observes International Mother Language Day

International Mother Language Day was observed on 21 February with due dignity and deep respect at Dr. Momtaz Begum University of Science and Technology, located in Bhairab, Kishoreganj. On the occasion, the national flag was flown at half-mast, and a one-minute silence was observed in memory of the Language Martyrs. As part of the subsequent program, floral tributes were placed at the university’s central Shaheed Minar in honor of the Language Martyrs.

Following the floral tribute, the second issue of the wall magazine titled “Chetanay-52”, published by the initiative of the university students, was formally inaugurated. The program was attended by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Mohammad Azizul Haque, as the Chief Guest. Also present were the Acting Registrar, Md. Zakir Hossain; the Dean of the Faculty of Science, Professor Dr. AFM Nazmus Sadat; the Dean of the Faculty of Business, Dr. Akim M. Rahman; chairpersons of various departments; faculty members; officers; staff; and students.

In his inaugural speech, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Mohammad Azizul Haque, said, “21 February is a glorious chapter of our national identity. Through the sacrifice of the Language Martyrs, we earned the right to speak in our mother tongue. Such wall magazines play an important role in presenting the history, spirit, and values of the Language Movement to the new generation.” He further stated, “Our university will always encourage the proper practice, research, and creativity in the Bangla language. Everyone must play a responsible role in upholding the dignity of our language.”

The participants of the program expressed their firm commitment to actively contribute to the enrichment and development of the Bangla language, remembering the sacrifices of the Language Martyrs.
