A daylong dengue awareness and free healthcare campaign programs was held at Government Hazi Asmat College, organized by Dr. Momtaz Begum University of Science and Technology, located in Bhairab, Kishoreganj. The campaign was inaugurated today, Wednesday (26 November 2025), by Professor Md. Moniruzzaman, Principal of Government Hazi Asmat College, and Mr. Md. Zakir Hossain, Acting Registrar of Dr. Momtaz Begum University of Science & Technology.
Also present at the inaugural ceremony were Mr. Md. Abdur Rashid, Chairman of the Department of Business Administration and Proctor of the University; Dr. Md. Atikur Rahman, Chairman of the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology; Ms. Afroza Sultana, Assistant Professor of the Department of Pharmacy; Dr. Enamul Haque, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology; former Acting Principal of Government Hazi Asmat College Abruzzaman Apon; and lecturers Mr. Motaher Hossain, Mr. Borkot Ullah Pathan, Mr. Md. Helal Uddin and Mr. Majharul Islam, along with teachers from both institutions.
In his inaugural speech, Principal Professor Md. Moniruzzaman said—
“There is no alternative to awareness in preventing dengue. Especially if college-going youths become conscious themselves, they can play an important role within their families and communities. Today’s campaign will help students gain practical knowledge and develop preventive practices.”
Acting Registrar Mr. Md. Zakir Hossain of DMBU said—
“Dengue is a fully preventable disease. To raise awareness among students about correct information, preventive measures, and timely treatment, we are regularly organizing college-based programs through our Social Awareness Club. Similar social and health awareness activities will continue in the future.”
Throughout the daylong campaign, students were informed about identifying dengue symptoms, keeping homes clean, preventing waterborne diseases, ensuring a safe environment, and steps to take in emergencies.
Additionally, students received free services including blood group testing, blood pressure measurement, weight check, and general health examinations. Participants were also able to receive immediate health consultations from medical professionals present at the camp.
