Today, 20th July 2025 (Sunday), a vibrant freshers’ orientation program was held at the digital conference room of the Dr. Momtaz Begum University of Science and Technology (DMBU) for the newly admitted students of the 3rd batch (Summer Semester 2025).
The event was presided over by Mr. Md. Zakir Hossain, Registrar (Acting) of the university.
Professor Dr. Muhammad Azizul Hoque, Vice-Chancellor (Acting) attended the event as the Chief Guest. In his speech, he fondly remembered the visionary initiative of Dr. H.B.M. Iqbal, the university’s founder, eminent education enthusiast, and freedom fighter for establishing this university in Bhairab, thereby opening new doors to higher education for the students of this region.
He said, “University life is not confined to textbooks alone—it is a journey of building leadership, values, and skills. These four years are the most crucial time to shape oneself into a competent individual.”
Professor Dr. A.F.M. Nazmus Sadat, Dean of the Faculty of Science, delivered the welcome speech. He encouraged the newcomers to recognize the importance of higher education and to prepare themselves to set meaningful goals for the future.
Deans and Departmental Chairman from various faculty and developments addressed the students, emphasizing academic structure, research, practical knowledge, and ethics.
Administrative officials also highlighted the rules, facilities, and guidelines applicable to the students.
Mr. Md. Ashraful Islam, a senior batches student from the Department of Pharmacy, shared his experiences and offered advice on how to achieve academic success.
Arefin Nahar Sania, a newly admitted student of Computer Science and Engineering, expressed her feelings, saying:
“The warm welcome I received on my first day at this university has greatly boosted my confidence and enthusiasm.”
The event was attended by respected faculty members, administrative staff, and students from different departments.
The extensive program concluded with an open discussion and Q&A session.
For the new students, this orientation program was a memorable beginning, filled with hope, confidence, and inspiration as they embarked on their new academic journey.
