A Tree Plantation Program and a seminar titled “Tree Plantation and the Role of Universities against Tobacco” were jointly organized by Dr. Momtaz Begum University of Science and Technology, Banshgari, Bhairab, Kishoreganj, in collaboration with the Inner Wheel Club of Dhaka North and the Inner Wheel Club of Dhaka Uptown on 08 August 2026 at the university campus. The Tree Plantation Program, held at 11:00 a.m., was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor (Acting) of the University, Professor Dr. Muhammad Azizul Hoque. The program was attended by the University’s Registrar (Acting), Mr. Md. Zakir Hossain; Acting Principal of Zillur Rahman Premier Bank School & College, Mr. Md. Faridul Hasan Tutul; President of the Inner Wheel Club of Dhaka North, Ms. Anuza Haque; President of the Inner Wheel Club of Dhaka Uptown, Ms. Rima Chisty; Deans of different faculties, Chairmen of various departments, faculty members, officers, staff, students, representatives from the college, journalists, and representatives of local youth organizations. The distinguished guests planted various species of trees on the university campus, highlighting the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable greening.

Subsequently, at 11:30 a.m., the seminar titled “Tree Plantation and the Role of Universities against Tobacco” was held. The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor (Acting), Professor Dr. Muhammad Azizul Hoque, attended the seminar as the Chief Guest. The seminar was chaired by the University’s Registrar (Acting), Mr. Md. Zakir Hossain, and moderated by the Dean of the Faculty of Science, Professor Dr. A. F. M. Nazmus Sadat. Keynote presentations were delivered by environmental researcher and President of the Inner Wheel Club of Dhaka Uptown, Ms. Rima Chisty, and President of the Inner Wheel Club of Dhaka North, Ms. Anuza Haque. The speakers emphasized the importance of tree plantation in maintaining ecological balance and addressing the adverse impacts of climate change, as well as the proactive role of universities in creating tobacco-free educational environments. During the program, Professor Dr. A. F. M. Nazmus Sadat delivered a presentation highlighting the academic programs, research activities, modern educational environment, and future development plans of Dr. Momtaz Begum University of Science and Technology. The program concluded with a strong commitment from all stakeholders to work together for environmental conservation, building a tobacco-free society, and making the beloved motherland greener and more livable.
