The inauguration of the event was carried out by the Honorable Vice-Chancellor (Acting), Professor Dr. Muhammad Azizul Hoque. He extended New Year greetings to all present and wished everyone good health, peace, success, and prosperity. In his brief speech, he expressed hope that this great cultural festival would become vibrant through the participation of all. He also called upon everyone to work together in building a beautiful, humane, and education-friendly society.

Among those present were the Registrar (Acting), Mr. Md. Zakir Hossain; the Dean of the Faculty of Science, Professor Dr. A.F.M. Nazmus Sadat; the Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, Dr. Akim M. Rahman; and the Convener of the Baishakhi celebration and Chairman of the Department of Business Administration, Mr. Md. Abdur Rashid. The event became lively with the participation of departmental Chairmen, faculty members, officers, staff, and students from various departments.

As part of the celebration program, the university also participated in the Baishakhi fair held on the banks of the Meghna River in Bhairab. A free health camp and admission promotional activities were conducted there. Visitors to the fair were provided with free services such as blood pressure checks, blood grouping, height and weight measurement, among others.

At the fairground, the Honorable Vice-Chancellor (Acting) exchanged New Year greetings with the organizers. Later, accompanied by university representatives, he visited the health camp and admission information center at Stall No. 01 and interacted with beneficiaries and visitors.

Following the floral tribute, the second issue of the wall magazine titled “Chetanay-52”, published by the initiative of the university students, was formally inaugurated. The program was attended by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Mohammad Azizul Haque, as the Chief Guest. Also present were the Acting Registrar, Md. Zakir Hossain; the Dean of the Faculty of Science, Professor Dr. AFM Nazmus Sadat; the Dean of the Faculty of Business, Dr. Akim M. Rahman; chairpersons of various departments; faculty members; officers; staff; and students.

In his inaugural speech, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Mohammad Azizul Haque, said, “21 February is a glorious chapter of our national identity. Through the sacrifice of the Language Martyrs, we earned the right to speak in our mother tongue. Such wall magazines play an important role in presenting the history, spirit, and values of the Language Movement to the new generation.” He further stated, “Our university will always encourage the proper practice, research, and creativity in the Bangla language. Everyone must play a responsible role in upholding the dignity of our language.”

The participants of the program expressed their firm commitment to actively contribute to the enrichment and development of the Bangla language, remembering the sacrifices of the Language Martyrs.

The conference was attended by about 200 policymakers, researchers, doctors, environmentalists, educators, and students, including 13 foreign representatives. Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Ministry of Water Resources, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, was present as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony. Special guests were Professor Daryl Mysore, PhD, Founder and President, American University of Sovereign Nations, USA; Secretary, Asian Bioethics Association (ABA); Professor Md. Akhtar Hossain Khan, PhD, Vice-Chancellor, State University of Bangladesh; and Professor Dr. Saeba Akhtar, Chairman, Bangladesh Medical Research Council (BMRC).

In the referred conference, the Dr. Momtaz Begum University of Science and Technology participated in the conference presentations. Dr. Akim M. Abidur Rahman Khan, Officer of Bhairab BSCIC Industrial Estate.

The welcome address was delivered by Professor Dr. AFM Nazmus Sadat, Director of IQAC and Dean, Faculty of Science. He urged the newcomers to recognize the necessity of higher education and to be prepared to set future goals. In their speeches, the Deans of various faculties and departmental Chairpersons highlighted the academic structure, research, practical knowledge, library facilities, cultural and sports activities, IT-related opportunities, and the importance of ethics in character building. University administrative officials also addresses the applicable rules and regulations, facilities, and administrative guidelines for students.

Senior student Tamanna Akter Bithi from the Department of Pharmacy and Nahid Hasan from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering shared their experiences with the newcomer’s students and shed light on ways to achieve academic success. New student Samia Akter from the Department of Business Administration and Robin Ahmed from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering expressed their feelings, stating that the warm reception they received on their very first day at the university had significantly boosted their confidence and enthusiasm.

In his concluding remarks, Acting Registrar, Mr. Md. Zakir Hossain, the Chairperson of the program advised the new students to strive for good academic results and to develop themselves as responsible citizens, and he thanked all concerned for making the program a success. On the occasion of the Admission Fair, students are being offered a 50% waiver on admission fees, along with tuition fee waivers ranging from 10% to 100% based on SSC and HSC or equivalent examination results, as well as various additional discounts under different categories. Specially, students from different colleges in Bhairab are eligible for an additional discount up to 25%, while female students are being offered an extra 15% discount on admission during the Admission Fair.

It is worth mentioning that these attractive discounts are applicable only during the Admission Fair period, which will continue from January 11, 2026 to January 21, 2026 (date may be extended).

Following the inauguration of the Admission Fair, an interactive meeting was arranged with prospective students and their guardians.
